About d&b audiotechnik

Founded in 1981, d&b audiotechnik designs high-quality professional audio systems in Germany.

The company has a global presence with partners in over 70 countries.

Its offering includes fully integrated systems of speakers, amplifiers, software, and services.

d&b focuses on user experience, innovation, and sustainability beyond just sound.

Their solutions are trusted worldwide for concerts, theatres, and permanent installations.

Sound-As-A-Service

d&b audiotechnik’s Sound-As-A-Service offer gives venue owners access to premium sound systems without the need for upfront investment. It is available in the EU, UK, US, and Canada, for permanent installations in sectors such as hospitality, education, corporate, theatres, and live entertainment.

Subscribers commit to a minimum term of 3 - 4 years, after which they can choose to upgrade, continue, or terminate the service.

The monthly fee covers hardware, transport, installation, commissioning, maintenance, remote monitoring, repairs, and deinstallation.

d&b delivers this offer through a strong network of local partners while handling all administration in-house to keep the process simple and efficient.

Returned systems are refurbished and reused, extending product life and supporting a circular economy.

Key insights

"We focus on infrastructure. The content comes from others, we leave that to the many great artists and DJs out there. What we provide is the complete sound package. We say it’s about peace of mind and confidence. We tailor the system to the venue’s needs—it includes all the necessary hardware: amplifiers, speakers, remote monitoring computers, and services"

"Flexibility is a key USP. One big advantage of subscription is always having the latest tech. Innovations come quickly in our industry. So after 3–4 years, customers can switch to new technology or series from d&b. From a consumer point of view, 3–4 years may seem long, but in pro audio it’s really short. Our systems last much longer."

"We take the gear back, refurbish everything. No need for new raw materials, we restore the product to look and function like new. And since d&b handles service during the subscription, the customer has no disadvantage even if the equipment isn’t brand new."

"We never go direct. We only operate through partners, they’re our biggest asset. We wouldn’t be able to deliver the service quality we want without local presence, and our partners provide that. We work closely with them and involve them fully in service delivery."

"It’s a journey with ups and downs. Introducing something new isn’t easy, but it brings growth, both personally and professionally. We’ve proven that the model works, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved."
